Fontbridge Guide

From font file to the app where you create.

A clear path through importing, profile installation, app compatibility, document checks, and font licensing.

01

Import from Files

Open Fontbridge, choose Import, then select a TTF, OTF, or TTC file in the Files picker. Fontbridge reads the font information before you continue.

02

Import a ZIP archive

Choose a ZIP archive that contains font files. Fontbridge extracts supported fonts and shows an import summary. Keep archives focused and avoid unknown files.

03

Review font information

Confirm the family, style, format, and installability shown by Fontbridge. A readable font is not always installable on every iOS version.

04

Install the profile

After Fontbridge prepares a configuration profile, open Settings and follow the iOS profile installation prompts. Review the profile name before approving it.

05

Find the font in Pages or Keynote

Open the app’s font picker and search for the family name. If it was already open during installation, close and reopen the document or app.

06

When an app cannot see the font

Font support is decided by iOS and the individual app. Some apps ignore installed fonts, hide unsupported styles, or cache their font list.

07

Restart after installation

An app may build its font list only at launch. Restarting that app can make a newly installed family appear.

08

System interface fonts

Fontbridge cannot change the font used by the iPhone or iPad interface, keyboard, Lock Screen, or every app.

09

Remove a font or profile

Open Settings, go to General and the profile or device management area available on your iOS version, select the Fontbridge profile, and remove it.

10

Check a document

Choose Document Check in Fontbridge and select a supported document. Review detected, available, and possibly missing font names before editing.

11

TTC and variable fonts

TTC collections contain multiple faces and require extra handling. Variable-font behavior also depends on iOS and the target app. Fontbridge reports what it can prepare rather than promising universal compatibility.

12

Respect font licenses

Fontbridge helps you handle font files, but does not grant copyright or commercial-use permission. Make sure you have the right to install and use each font.
